Senior lecturers are at the stage in their academic career where they would already have an established record of internationally-recognised and peer-reviewed research outputs, a global network of academic and non-academic contacts and the capability to attract significant future funding.

You would need to demonstrate a track record in delivering high-quality teaching, mentoring and supervision at all levels, as well as evidence of how you would develop innovative and engaging curricula and resources.

A senior lecturer can expect a salary in the range of £43,560 to £52,897 p.a., depending on research success and the ability to lead cancer biology education and training.

After several years in post, you could apply for a professorship. Promotion to professor would depend on the visibility and impact of your research and your ability to secure significant funding.
