We are excited to announce that jobs.ac.uk is working in partnership with Vitae, to host a brand-new webinar on ‘Presentation Skills for Researchers’.

You can no longer register to attend the webinar due to it reaching full capacity. If you wish to receive a recording of the ‘Presentation Skills for Researchers’ webinar, then please fill out your details in this form. Thank you for your interest.

Face-to face versus virtual; how to prepare for the future?

Many Early Career Researchers have mastered online delivery of teaching and learning but have not yet had the opportunity to present themselves and their work in a face-to-face setting. Conversely, some researchers have taught, given presentations or attended conferences face-to-face in the past, but now have to adapt to remote and online formats. As researchers will likely face a blend of environments in the future, this webinar will help you to prepare for presenting and building your network in a range of scenarios.

Drawing from 10 years of experience in delivering training courses and lectures, Dr. Mhairi Towler will share her top tips for presenting under these different circumstances.

The session topics to be discussed include:

  • Narrative
  • Confidence
  • Audience
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity
  • Practical tips for blended learning
  • Building your network
  • Job interviews

Trainer and Presenter: Dr. Mhairi Towler, Founder & CEO of Vivomotion

Mhairi Towler

Dr. Mhairi Towler has a degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Dundee. She has carried out postdoctoral work, both in San Francisco and Dundee and was a founder and Co-chair of the College of Life Sciences Postdoctoral Association. Since then, Mhairi also completed a PgCert in teaching and learning in Higher Education and has gone on to set up her own multi-award winning animation production company, Vivomotion, after receiving a Masters in Animation and Visualisation.
